Halcyon Days
Adventure Unfolding...
Halcyon Days :: Yohmi's Story Yohmi decides that after the crash into the sea, and frantically calling for help in a desperate situation, she must be completely stressed out. He decides to take a kinder approach.

"I know you're afraid to jump, I don't blame you," he says to her. She looks into his eyes with a mixture of indignation and fright, but does not say anything.
"You've been through a lot in such a short amount of time," he continues, "but you were calling for help. That means you want to survive this disaster, and to do that you've got to keep going. You can't give up now. The next step is to make that jump!"

He cannot make out the expressions that run over her face, but she remains silent. "I know you can do it! Just one jump and you're there! Once inside that boat you can just leave it to me and I'll have you on land in under ten minutes," he says encouragingly.
"Land?" she asks.
"Yes, the island where I live isn't too far away."
"...All right," she says at last.

With her mind made up she suddenly turns, takes a deep breath and takes two running steps before making a great leap across to the boat. She slams against it, still holding her small piece of equipment under one arm. Instantly on the wet metal surface she begins to slide. Her free hand feels around and grasps a bar protruding from the boat, but with the rocking of the waves her grip instantly begins to slip.

Yohmi quickly rushes and jumps toward the boat. The magnetic pull catches his armor and combined with the force of his jump he slams very hard against the hull with a loud metal clank. It leaves him dizzy for a moment but he recovers his senses and reaches for the girl's hand. He grabs her wrist and holds tight.

"You're going to have to climb up! Drop that thing and use your other hand!" he shouts.
"I don't want to lose this! It's important!" she informs him.
"Toss it up top of the boat. The boat is magnetized, it will stick to the metal! You'll lose your life if you don't!"

Reluctantly she tosses it upward. With both hands free she takes hold of his hand and works with him as they help each other up to the top. Quickly she grabs her device and jumps down into the hatch. Yohmi follows her and quickly turns off the magnetic hold. The boat suddenly rises a few feet straight up out of the water. "Hang on!" he yells.

The boat lands with a great jolt, rocking the two of them back and forth.
"What was that?" the girls asks with concern.
"We were attached to the air ship. With it sinking it must have been pulling the boat down."

Yohmi regains control before it capsizes and once again faces steering through the violent storm. For awhile it seems they are lost at sea, which hardly surprises him considering how far the waves could have carried the air ship and boat while he was helping her out. Fortunately they come within a close enough radius to Trinban and from there he can use his equipment to signal in on the island and take them to safety.

Once the boat is safely docked, they rush through the storm up to Yohmi's house. Both of them are soaking wet and completely exhausted. The girl looks uncomfortable and begins to tamper with her small device.
"Is it all right?" Yohmi asks, "It didn't break did it?"
"It might have, with tossing it and all that water, but I won't be able to tell until I can get it hooked up with some more parts," she tells him. Then, she turns her head toward the window, staring out into the dark storm clouds. "What's your name?" she asks.
"Uh, it's Yohmi," he says, somewhat surprised that she would care, "What's yours?"
"I'm Miiki... Thanks for saving my life..."
