"Looks like we got in just in time," he says looking at his dog shaking off the water from its back. Yohmi watches with interest out his window for a moment as the storm gets steadily worse. As the lightning becomes more frequent, he gets excited and heads over to look at his gauges. There are 14 large lightning rods on Trinban. They catch a lot of lightning strikes from the particularly stormy weather of this area. Each rod connects to a piece of machinery which monitors the intesity and various other aspects, as well as gathers a partial bit of the lightning's energy and stores it in a small battery. Sitting in his lightning-proof home, Yohmi watches his equipment which gives the readings from all 14 lightning rods. After awhile he hears a strike, so loud that he is certain it hit his island. Sure enough, rod #5 shows a hit! Yohmi quickly flips the switch which disconnects the #5 battery from its rod since batteries that get overly charged by receiving two lightning strikes worth of power will explode. He is excited and waits patiently but amazingly nothing else gets hit for awhile. Suddenly he hears a crash, different from the thunder. He checks the read out of the equipment and finds that rod #14 has been disconnected. "Dang it! That leaning rod must have collapsed!" he yells. The dog gives a groan as if sharing in his unhappiness. "Oh well, there's still 13 out there to catch more potential bolts, right?" Before he can even turn to look at his dog, there is suddenly a huge sounding explosion outside. The glass over the gauges shatters, the house shakes terribly and Yohmi falls to the ground. Then all is still except for a steady rain. Yohmi gets up and cautiously looks out the window. "What in the world was that?" he wonders. There is no sign of anything being disrupted outside, at least from the view offered by the window. Unfortunately for all he knows one of his machines might have blown up and ruined the entire lightning rod network of the island...
