Halcyon Days :: Yohmi's Story
Without further hesitation, Yohmi digs his feet into the ground and puts all his strength into a final push. The sky flashes wildly. At last the rod makes contact with the pipe, but suddenly he feels it moving back towards him. The sinkhole has grown even deeper and the lightning rod begins to fall as it sinks. Yohmi pushes against it, but there is no stopping it now. With no time to even think, Yohmi jumps and falls into the sinkhole as the rod crashes down, nearly crushing him. Once down in the hole, he continues to sink, and sink, and sink. Trying to keep his wits about him, he peers through the murky water at the flooded underground chamber he has ended up in.
It is a ruin, an undiscovered ruin that had been sitting there beneath his own island all along. Apparently the buried door had started to cave in with the weight of the lightning rod on it, which opened it up to be filled with the torrential rain of the storm. Now Yohmi finds himself trapped inside the dark chamber. Despite the heavy digger's armor he is wearing, he struggles to swim back up to the surface. The lightning rod now lies over the hole he had fallen in, blocking his way out. Fortunately he can lift his head up just enough to get some air. Unfortunately with the rain still pouring the hole is filling up fast and might soon rise above his head.
Yohmi realizes that his air supply will be running out if he does not act quickly...
