Halcyon Days :: Yohmi's Story
Yohmi chooses the pathway leading to the left. Never has he had to hold his breath for so long, his lungs feel ready to burst. Having ventured away from the opening of the ruin, he now makes his way through total darkness. Finally he feels that the ceiling is higher in the upcoming room than it was in the hallway, thus there's sure to be an air pocket. Fortunately he is correct and is able to surface, breathing heavily for a few minutes. He heads in a little deeper, trying to feel his way around. In the blackness he cannot tell how large the air pocket might be, but he hopes that it will sustain him long enough until the storm ends and he can make his way back up to the outside world.
After floating there awhile, Yohmi is suddenly spooked when he feels something touch his foot. He turns his eyes down below and spots a gently glowing, red orb in the water, a reaverbot! He soon notices a row of smaller red orbs following the first, and knows it must be a Firushudot, the dreaded underwater reaver. He hopes not to join the ranks of diggers who have lost their lives to these lethal machines, but that hope begins to fade as the flooded room below him seems to slowly fill with the glow of the reaverbot eyes. Without his buster just one could do him in, but there must be at least ten of them!
Yohmi keeps his cool, doing his best to keep himself up against the weight of his armor while trying to move as little as possible and not alert the reaverbots to his presence. For 20 minutes or so he is caught in this precarious position before the Firushudot seem to disperse. Yohmi is relieved, for now at least. He continues to float there and wait until the storm hopefully passes, but where to go then?
