Halcyon Days :: Yohmi's Story
Yohmi rides a giant wave high up as he turns back towards his island. From this unique vantage point he suddenly spots a small light in the ocean. It has to be the air ship, there is nothing else it could be. He gains new determination and heads for it, but remembers to remain cool and cautious. Suddenly as he is heading down a steep hill of water he spots the air ship very close to him, rising up with another large wave.
Getting his boat to the air ship and then holding them together will be an extremely difficult task. Yohmi prepares to flip a switch that will magnetize the outside of his ship. The magnetism is powered by one of his little batteries which are charged on the island, and having the feature on his boat has come in handy countless times.
With a sharp and leaning turn his little boat comes within range and suddenly the two metal hulls smack into each other. Yohmi wastes no time. He hurries up the ladder and out of his boat. His metal armor keeps his feet wanting to stick to the boat, despite the vicious trembing caused by the crashing waves all around him. With great determination he pulls each foot free of the magnetic cling and places it forward, working his way toward the air ship's hatch.
He pushes and pulls but the handle refuses to budge. "Locked from the inside no doubt," he curses and starts to bang heavily on it. It would seem to be no use, so he tries the next best way in, the windows to the air ship's bridge. Still lit dimly from the inside, Yohmi kicks one in and drops down into the room. He lands on the wall, which is at a forty-five degree angle. Quickly he must grab hold of the wheel to keep himself upright.
Surveying the scene he finds there is nobody present. Is it possible that everyone on the ship was in the ruins when it blew? He wonders. He slides down the wall to the adjoining wall and opens the door to the hallway. The lower half of the corridor is flooded, but it looks like he might be able to access two rooms still filled with air. One of the doors reads "Communications", probably where the spotter or spotters of the crew would have been, possibly a good place to check for unconscious survivors. The other door is unmarked but has a large beam wedged against it, most definitely holding the door shut and trapping anyone who might still be inside...
